Its been a few months since I graduated and of course I have done nothing but stay home online looking at graduate programs and schools, and am freaking out. They are just so many programs, so many schools. Its overwhelming. To top it off I have added pressure from the ‘rents asking me what am doing with my life. Can’t I get a break? How have people been doing this for years?
How do you take that next step, when its like jumping into the deep end into all these sharks and you are Nemo!!! It’s getting kind of annoying to be asked what are you doing with your life? My head is about to blow! Parents, am going to give some advise, just to help you in parenting your kid when they become a new adult;
- Do not take your kids to school too early,. They will finish school early and be out of place in the work place.
- Give them space. I know you want your kids to be a success but some of them need to go at their own pace. If you hurry them, then you are on your way to a mental break down.
- Talk to your kids. Don’t tell them you are going to do this, ask them if they want to do it in the first place. Cause otherwise they are going to do it halfheartedly and that’s no way to do anything.
So really, taking the next step is harder than most graduates realize.
